We all buy flowers for special occasions or simply as an expression of our feelings towards near and dear ones in order to let them know how much we care for them. But as there are many flower varieties, and different meanings have been assigned to each of them, one must be cautious to avoid the embarrassing scenario of choosing the wrong flower for the event.

If you have an idea of the likings of the person, who you are going to give the flowers to then your decision can be quite straightforward, but when you are doing this do not lose the sense of occasion. For example, flowers with vibrant colours such as daisies or roses can be selected for happy occasions, as they are in line with the mood of such events. But sad occasions need you to express your condolence by presenting flowers like white carnations or gladiolus.

Too much experimentation from your side regarding selection of flowers might not be fruitful if the receiver is not known to you too well, and in such a scenario it is advisable to opt for traditional and safe choices. Here again, the occasion will determine which flower you can select. On becoming a graduate, a person can be presented with a bunch of colourful lilies, on the other hand a newly married couple can be wished a happy married life by gifting seasonal flowers on the day of their marriage.

Brightly coloured flowers are suited for birthdays. For anniversaries, like 25 years, the most appropriate are luxurious and formal bouquets with a suitable color scheme. To celebrate a birth, pink flowers are an obvious choice for a girl, and orange or yellow flowers for a boy. Gerberas are bright and bold flowers, perfectly suited to a happy occasion like a birthday, anniversary or birth.

If you are confused about which flower to pick, you should seek advice from an expert florist in a flower shop or an online florist to guide you in your decisions. A florist having a large collection of flowers and a famous brand name associated with his shop must be chosen if you are looking for good quality service. This is not a problem at all for anyone who lives in Singapore or is visiting for an event here. You can bump into a Singapore flower shop in any commercial complex, and can even try out online shopping if you are technologically inclined. A quick search on any search engine with the words 'florist Singapore' will provide you with a list of many flower shops situated in Singapore.

When it is about getting access to a great variety of flowers, online shopping is undoubtedly preferable to walking into a regular flower shop. However, you must check some important factors like extra charges for sending the flowers and the time and date when they are going to be delivered. You must also ensure that the credit card information that you are providing is on a secure network and is not likely to be misused. There are still many people who would prefer to do it the old-fashioned way and walk into a flower shop because of the invaluable suggestions of the florist, something which is generally not possible in online shopping.
