Many professional designer and developers spend a lot of there hard earned precious time to find better ways to present out ideas in the form of websites. While there is no definitive rule book, there are a number of thing that you should consider, if you are serious about pumping out effective visuals and concepts on your sites.

It is all about goals and missions that need to be accomplished. Firstly, you will need to find out how the actual design of your site fits into your goal. Your concept must be as, if not more important than the visuals, because in essence that is what will capture people who are buying or interested in your service or product.

It always helps to take a step back and observe your website from a third person point of view. Imagine yourself visiting your site for the very first time and honestly think about the way how you would act of you saw the home page. Who you really be drawn in by the descriptive text or animated banner, or would you simply click off the page without any desire to find out more about the service. Does your site display too much or too little information ?

If you are selling a product, service or your site is very popular, then you will probably want to display some sort of advertising. If that is the case, you will need to have a balance of around 80% valuable content and 20% adverts. Think about the structure of commercials and magazines. Look at how often the adverts are displayed.

It is important that you do not distract your visitors with elements that are not essential to the ultimate goal. Sometimes, load animations sounds or popups can be very distracting. It is also important to think about the speed at which you deliver moving images, as readers will be forced to follow it at the speed you determine.

It helps to avoid popups, because they have such a negative symobolism attached to them. If your site does have them, please take them off, because most people are programmed to delete them without ever considering the content.

It is important that you do not try to hard to attract your visitors to your product or service. Pushy sales people are often disregarded and avoided, so the idea is to be indifferent and throw out some bait, without laying all your cards down straight away. Give your visitors what they need or just enough to make them want to investigate more. If you put too much information on one page, then it looks like your trying too hard to sell your services.
